In France, sports are very important to the society. Football, or Soccer, is the most popular there. The sport came from England but spread throughout the world and gained followers mainly in the Paris area and northern part of the country. The national team is one of the eight teams that won the FIFA World Cup (1998).

Fashion

Fashion is an important part and cultural export of France since the 17th century. Paris is known as one of the world's fashion capitals and is home of many of the premier fashion houses.

Music

The most popular kind of music in France is folk music. French music started back in the 10th century and during the Renaissance, Burgandy was a huge center for musical development. In the early 20th century France saw neo-classical music start. Different regions in France have different types of music.

Film

France is the birthplace of cinema. It's film industry is very strong. Sometimes French cinema is interwined with foreign nations because it has a gathering spot for artists from the world. France is the most successful film industry in Europe but third in the world. The capital, Paris, has the highest density of cinemas in the world.
